How to use · Washing Machine
- Empty the drum completely. No clothes, no detergent, nothing inside.
- Front load: tear open 1 sachet. Top load: use 2 sachets. Pour directly into the empty drum.
- Run the longest available cycle with normal tap water. No hot setting needed.
- Immediately follow with one plain cold rinse cycle.
- Wipe the door seal with a damp cloth after.
Warning: Do NOT use within 24 hours of any bleach cycle - chlorine gas risk. Empty drum only - never with clothes.
How to use · Geyser / Water Heater
- Switch off the geyser. Allow it to cool completely.
- Drain the tank fully. Flush once with cold water.
- Dissolve 1 sachet in 1L warm water. Pour in via the inlet. Top up with water to fill.
- Soak for 1 hour - do NOT heat the solution.
- Drain fully. Flush 3 times with fresh water before turning the heater back on.
Warning: Never heat the descaling solution inside the geyser - pressurised acid vapour risk.
How to use · Water Tank
- Drain the tank fully.
- Dissolve 1 sachet per 50L of capacity in warm water.
- Fill the tank with the descaling solution. Soak 2 hours.
- Drain completely. Flush 3 times with fresh water before normal use.
Warning: Confirm tank material - WashDX is safe on plastic, fibreglass, and stainless. Not for cement-lined tanks.
How to use · Immersion Rod
- Unplug the rod completely. Allow to cool fully.
- Dissolve 1 sachet in a bucket of warm water.
- Submerge the rod fully. Soak for 1 hour.
- Rinse under running water. Wipe dry with a cloth before next use.
How to use · RO Pre-Filter Housing
- Turn off the water supply to the RO unit.
- Remove the membrane and the pre-filter cartridge - soak the housing only.
- Dissolve half a sachet in enough water to fill the housing. Soak 30 minutes.
- Rinse the housing 3 times with fresh water before reassembling.
Warning: Never soak the RO membrane in WashDX - acid will permanently damage it.

Why washing machines fail in hard water (it's the spider arm)
The aluminium spider arm holds the inner drum to the rear bearing. In hard water, dissolved calcium combined with detergent residue forms a galvanic cell with the aluminium - slowly corroding it. Within 4-6 years in 400+ TDS conditions, the spider arm cracks, the drum wobbles, and the bearings fail. Spider arm replacement costs Rs.6,000-12,000 and is rarely worth it. Descaling every 2-3 months with BTA-protected WashDX prevents the corrosion chain from starting. This single habit usually doubles the life of a washing machine in Indian conditions.
Why citric acid alone fails on washing machine scale
Washer and geyser scale is usually mixed buildup, not a clean lab sample of limescale. WashDX is built for that real-world appliance residue: mineral load, heat-cycle buildup, and the kind of repeat maintenance common in hard-water homes.
When to use 1 sachet vs 2
Top-load washing machines always take 2 sachets because the drum holds more water. For a front-load machine, geyser, or boiler, one 50g sachet is the standard dose at 200-600 TDS, descaled within the last 3 months. Use 2 sachets for: TDS over 600, no descaling in 6+ months, visible white scale or rust staining, borewell water with orange tint, or geysers and boilers larger than 25L. Doubling on the first cycle saves you running back-to-back descales.
Why we don't add fragrance or surfactants
WashDX is meant to descale, not to smell perfumed or imitate a detergent cleaner. Keeping the formula focused helps avoid unnecessary foam and keeps the cycle easier to manage in washers, heaters, and tanks.
Drum-clean tablets and WashDX solve completely different problems
Drum-clean sachets are alkaline and surfactant-based. They clean organic residue - detergent buildup, mould, and that musty smell. WashDX is acid-based. It removes mineral scale and rust. If your machine smells, a drum-clean solves it. If it heats slowly, takes longer to reach temperature, or has visible white-grey crust on the element, that is a WashDX problem. Using a drum-clean for a scale problem does nothing. Pick by symptom.
What WashDX is and is not safe on
Safe: stainless steel, plastic drum liners, rubber EPDM gaskets (sulfamic capped at 14%), aluminium with BTA protection, glass, ceramic. Caution: old or cracked rubber seals. Do not use on: clothes or fabric, baby appliances or food-contact items (use DescaleX Bio), natural stone, cement-lined tanks. Never within 24 hours of a bleach cycle.

Front-load or top-load?
Both. Same formula. Front load takes 1 sachet, top load takes 2 because the drum holds more water. Front-loaders may show more visible benefit because the door glass and gasket also get cleaned during the cycle. Top-loaders typically have heavier scale on the heating element.
Can I run it with clothes inside?
No. Empty drum only, with no clothes and no detergent. Run one plain rinse after the descale cycle before your next wash.
Do I need a hot wash?
No. Run the longest available cycle with normal tap water. The formula is built to work without heat.
How long until I see results?
One cycle. Heating times improve immediately - most machines that took 20+ minutes to reach 60 deg C return to 12-14 minutes after a single descale. Visible scale starts coming out as cloudy water during the rinse cycle.

What's the bleach rule?
Do NOT use WashDX within 24 hours of running any bleach or chlorine-based cycle. Mixing acids with bleach releases chlorine gas, which is dangerous. If you've recently bleached, run a plain water cycle, wait a full 24 hours, then descale. After descaling, you can use bleach again on the next cycle if you want - just not before.
Will this damage my washing machine?
No. The BTA in the formula forms a protective layer on the aluminium spider arm during descaling - that's the part most likely to corrode in hard water. Sulfamic acid is capped at 14% to stay below the threshold that damages EPDM rubber door seals. The full rinse cycle after washes everything clean. Used as directed, it's safer than vinegar and most generic descalers.
Why does the formula have no foam?
By design. Foam in a washing machine descale causes suds-lock and drainage errors mid-cycle. WashDX contains no surfactant - pure mineral chemistry that pumps and drains the way a machine expects.
Can I use it in a kettle or baby appliance?
No. WashDX is not for food-contact appliances. For kettles, bottles and baby bottle warmers use DescaleX Bio.

How do I know my washing machine has scale?
Common signs: the machine takes longer to heat, white-grey crust on the drum or heating element, stiff or rough clothes after washing, and a rust tint in borewell areas.
How is this different from drum-clean tablets?
They solve different problems. Drum-clean tablets are alkaline and surfactant-based - they clean detergent residue, mould, and smell. WashDX is acid-based - it removes mineral scale and rust from the heater and drum. If your machine smells, use a drum cleaner. If it heats slowly or leaves white residue, that's scale - and that's WashDX.
There are rust-brown stains fused into the scale. Will it work?
Yes - that's borewell iron, and it's why the formula carries disodium EDTA on top of sulfamic acid. The iron chelant dissolves and holds the Fe/Mn deposits so they drain out with the calcium instead of staying bonded to the metal.
How often should I descale my washing machine?
By TDS: below 200 every 4-6 months, 200-400 every 2-3 months, 400-600 every 6-8 weeks, above 600 every 4-6 weeks with a double dose the first time.

Can I heat the solution inside my geyser to speed it up?
No. Never heat descaling solution inside a geyser - it pressurises acid vapour in a sealed tank. Soak cold for 1 hour, drain, flush 3 times. The formula is built to work without heat in soak applications.
Can I use WashDX on an immersion rod?
Yes. Unplug and cool the rod, dissolve 1 sachet in a bucket of warm water, soak the rod for 1 hour, then rinse under running water and wipe dry.
Can I use it in a water tank?
Yes, on plastic, fibreglass and stainless tanks. Use 1 sachet per 50L, soak 2 hours, drain and flush 3 times. Not for cement-lined tanks.
Can I use it on my dishwasher?
For dishwashers, use DescaleX (the regular formula) instead. WashDX is built for the no-food-contact environment of washing machines, geysers, and boilers. DescaleX has a food-contact-rinse-safe profile that's better for dishwashers.
